Polly will change her teaching program. Polly will teach Friday evenings at 5.30 – 7.00pm. This will be a restorative and pranayama class suitable for students who are familiar with head stand and shoulder stand and modified versions of these poses. Polly will also teach an early class on Saturday morning at 6.30 – 8.00am for general level students and at 8.30 – 10.00am a beginner class.  These classes will also be paid directly through Troy’s booking system. Under the HERVEY BAY YOGA business model, students will purchase class cards that can be used across all classes on the timetable, including classes taught by Polly.

In 2027 there will also be 2 immersion weeks where Polly will teach 6 – 7.30 am and 5.30 – 7.00pm Monday to Friday.  Vera will teach 9.30 – 11.00 Monday to Friday.  These weeks are scheduled for 25 – 29 January and 6 – 10 September.

There will also be a workshop over the Easter weekend taught by Polly. March 26,27,28

Again, the immersion  weeks and the Easter workshop will be booked via Troys website.

Polly will also conduct 4 hour Practitioner development workshops at the HERVEY BAY YOGA studio. These are for all students who wish to develop and modify a home practice. These workshops will be booked via the Woodgate Beach Yoga website. Dates for 2027 are Feb 20, April 17, June 12, August 7, Octaober 16. Each session will commence at 12 midday and finish at 4pm.

The 4 hour workshops explore the different groups of poses, for example, standing poses, backbends, forward bends and the effective use of props to access the poses effectively.

Sessions explore the ‘elemental’ experiences of earth (weight) water (flow/direction) fire (heat, intensity, friction/grip) air (mind state) space (spatial dimension of form and inner space, including within joints and for organ function.

Sessions are practical and experiential and participants are able to ask questions and explore issues they have in their home practice.

Teacher Training

Students who have been working with Polly for a minimum of 3
years, and who have been attending events such as the Sunday Practice Development sessions  and who have an established personal practice can apply to Polly to become a Trainee. Polly is an accredited teacher trainer with Iyengar Yoga Australia.

Within the Iyengar tradition, trainees must have completed at least 300 hours of Teacher Training and 100 hours of assisting in classes, to be eligible to sit an assessment at Level 1 Teacher Certification. This level of certification allows you to teach as a recognised Iyengar Yoga teacher and make use of the Iyengar Certification Mark.

The Iyengar Yoga Association requires that a candidate for assessment is formally referred by their training teacher. Referral (by Polly) of a trainee for
assessment is provided once a trainee demonstrates a capacity to teach and practice at the required level. Many trainees take longer than they anticipate to develop the required capacity, whilst others achieve readiness in a shorter period of time. Hence it is critical to note that readiness to be referred for assessment, is not determined by completing hours of training.
“Assessment” is better understood as a ritual rite of passage.

If you are interested to apply for a teacher traineeship
with Polly, please email via the school to set up a time to meet with Polly.
