Years ago, I practised Iyengar Yoga regularly, and although life took me in different directions, the experience never really left me. Recently, I joined an Iyengar Yoga class here at Woodgate Beach, and something remarkable happened — my body remembered.
As I moved through the familiar poses, there was a sense of recognition beyond conscious thought. Muscles and joints seemed to recall movements that had been dormant for years. What surprised me most was not just the physical memory, but the return of the mindfulness, and the feeling of being deeply connected to myself.
The classes provide an opportunity to slow down, focus on breath, and become present in the moment. In a world that often feels rushed and noisy, that sense of stillness is incredibly valuable.
Adding to the experience is the beautiful yoga room and its surroundings.
Returning to Iyengar Yoga has reminded me that some things never truly leave us. The body remembers, the mind responds, and the spirit reconnects. Reconnecting to ourselves can be both simple and profound.
